Dr. Vetha listens well and moves forward with confidence. I have had many eye issues that are a little out of the norm. She trusts my ability to describe whatever I may be experiencing at the time and involves me in the chosen path to treat or correct the vision issue. Appointments begin on time, and while I never feel rushed, she does not waste time.

Thomas Eye Center has ALWAYS exceeded expectations for me. Dr. Thomas is the best in his field and I would recommend anyone who needs a new eye doctor or is not satisfied with your current doctor, to give Dr. Thomas a visit. You will NOT be disappointed. I would give him 6 stars if I could. Also, his office staff is very efficient and courteous in dealing with you before and after your exam.

It was my first time going to the eye doctors and everyone at Thomas Eye Center made it a breeze. Dr. Vetha took the time to explain every step and option they provided. I felt very comfortable and heard during my appointment. Becca helped me pick out the perfect pair of glasses as well. I would highly recommend to everyone to use TEC. I can’t say enough good things about this experience.

Absolutely fabulous experience. My eye Dr suddenly shut down, I went to another place which was a first class nightmare. This was hands down the best overall experience. I have been visiting an eye DR for the past 35 years. This was even better than the place I was going to for 15 years. From check in to check out- A+

Dr Vetha, Mackenzie, and the rest of the team at Thomas Eye Center are extremely personable, efficient, and professional. More importantly, it is clear that they are up to date with the most recent advances in optometry, and are able to offer the latest and greatest technology. Clean and modern as well, this clinic is a great choice for anybody needing optometry evaluation. Would recommend to family, friends, and colleagues without hesitation. 10/10.

My eye doctor went out of business unexpectedly. In a pinch I called Thomas Eye Center, and they got me in for an appointment the next day. Great communication. The staff was pleasant and very knowledgeable. On time & easy experience! Great selection of frames too!

A quality choice for your eye health needs.

I’ve been coming here over the last 4 years for my yearly eye exam and prescription lenses. Every year the service is of a consistently high standard and I can say I’ve never had a bad experience in those years. The Thomas admin. staff and supporting eye testing staff are well trained and welcoming. I also like that they research and explain the prices before your appointment. Dr. Vetha is a personable professional, who I’ll continue to see while living in the area.

Wonderful people, all around, but my experience was unique and frustrating for various reasons. I went in one year ago, for the specific purpose of getting prism lenses for a condition called strabismus (my eyes cross sometimes). I’ve had it all of my life, and I’ve had prisms before. It does not affect my vision in any other way. It’s an issue with the muscles around the eyes. I’ve always had perfect clarity, near and far, and the vision test I was given here said as much. I had no problem reading off every letter without skipping a beat. At the end of my exam I was told I’d be given a slight correction in my lenses anyway, and it may have been on me for not questioning, despite my confusion as to why, but I went with it thinking that a “slight correction” may not even be noticeable.
I was wrong.
After paying $1,000+, my new glasses blurred my vision to the point of headache. I couldn’t wear them throughout the day despite my repeated attempts. On my one month check up I expressed my concerns, and was told to keep wearing them and my eyes would adapt. I do not personally think that I should force my eyes to adapt to vision that is worse than their natural state.
I just wanted to have glasses that would unify my sight, and to be honest, improve my confidence. I know people walk into health care offices all the time claiming to know what ails them and what they need to cure it, and I know it’s exhausting for healthcare professionals, but in this case, I really did know what I needed, and felt pushed to pay for something I did not.
I was due for a yearly exam next week, and was reminded via text that included what felt like a warning that my examiner may suggest further tests with additional fees that are explicitly not covered by insurance. It left me with a bad taste, so I canceled.
I’ve decided to live with the fact of having spent $1000 for glasses that I only wear to help me watch movies.
I avoid hassle whenever possible.
Again, wonderful and kind people all around. I know they help so many people.

I recently went in for glasses and had a very good exam and ordered glasses thru Beeca. She was very professional, courteous and helpful. She disclosed what my insurance would pay and what my portion would be. She told me it would be up to 7 days for them to arrive (actually arrived in 2 days). Overall experience was excellent.

My recent optometrist appointment exceeded my expectations in every aspect. Dr. Kaj Vetha’s exceptional expertise, taking the time to thoroughly explain each step of the examination and answering all my questions with patience. The customer service was outstanding, creating a welcoming and efficient atmosphere from check-in to departure. Ashley got me checked in and out with no problems. Mackenzie did a great job starting my appointment off and also taking pictures of my eyes after I visited with the doctor. The support staff demonstrated genuine care, making the entire experience pleasant. Additionally, the optician, Rebecca, provided valuable assistance in choosing the perfect frames, ensuring a seamless transition from the examination to selecting eyewear. Overall, the professionalism, friendliness, and competence displayed by the entire team at Thomas Eye Center make this optometry practice stand out, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone in need of eye care.

I have been coming to see Dr. Thomas and his team for years. They are excellent and there is no where else I rather go to have my eye exam. They always go the extra mile and the staff is super friendly and helpful.

Everyone here is always pleasant and helpful as well as knowledgeable. Always willing to answer any questions I have about procedures, costs, and services.

We had a great experience with Thomas Eye Center!
I took my 2 year old in for his first check-up and Dr. Vetha, Mackenzie and all the staff were amazing with him. They were incredibly patient and understanding and did a great job explaining what they were doing every step of the way. Most importantly, they made it an enjoyable experience for my son. He even got to pick out a toy from the Treasure Chest when he was done. We will definitely be back next year!

The doctors are nice enough and the people are nice but they focus on pushing you to their glasses. Also, they hound a person to death confirming and reconfirming fees and appointments. For my recent appointment, I confirmed on the first call and then they texted and called 7 more times. Absolutely ridiculous!!!! I complained to staff and got a canned answering that they had prepared, so it was obvious that this is a common complaint. After 8 years of this annoying behavior, I’m going elsewhere with my business.

Our family always enjoys the experience at THC. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Dr. Kaj does a great job explaining the benefits of why our glasses our important and help our individual eye health needs.

First time patient. You know how sometimes with eye visits, you feel like it's a bunch if robots going thru the motions? Not here. Everyone from reception to testing to the doctor's time to the eyewear specialist, everybody was genuinely nice and personable and knowledgeable. Every step was thoroughly explained, every test was described well. There were options I could choose without feeling pressured. Didn't have to wait--they were waiting on me when I walked in! Never left an eye appointment feeling better than when I arrived until today.

I have been Dr. Thomas and staff's patient for more than 20 years. He and they are truly wonderful! This past Friday I picked up a new pair of reading glasses. After I spent some time with them that evening and throughout the weekend I was anxious because they wouldn't stay on my face plus I couldn't see well with them unless I constantly squinted. Come Monday I called to see what could be done. A lovely young woman named Alyssa asked me to come on down to the office. I did and the first thing she said was, "Your nose pieces aren't right." She proceeded to replace them and handed the glasses back to me. Well, let's just say that now I can see you from here! I have been seeing perfectly and have not squinted even once. The whole staff at Thomas Eye Associates is outstanding! You'll get a thorough exam, excellent prescription and some of the most pleasant people around! Update 4/11:

A series of other events with another Athens’ eye dr. that took my insurance lead be back to Thomas Eye to try and just buy the frames. Before coming in, I called and briefed them on the situation. They honestly answered that I would need to come in to try and make the lenses fit the frame. 10 mins later I walked in and was greeted. The optical manager worked with me and I had an overall positive experience with her. She noted that she had read my previous review and I expressed the main thing that lead me to give a 2-star review initially was I left feeling I was the only one trying to think of a sensible solution to my problem. They gave me black or white answers to my questions and a metaphorical shoulder shrug when things looked like the only solution was drop a boatload of cash on new lenses and frames. I felt she heard my criticism and affirmed that this is something they should be doing.

Back to my transaction, it was confirmed that my frames couldn’t be fixed and that the lenses didn’t fit the new frame exactly. I’m not 100% sure, but my impression is that it’s kinda of a hassle for lenses to be trimmed down so I did need to slightly push to see if they would trim my lenses to fit the frames I would buy. After a closer look, they agreed it could be done. 30 minutes later, I CAN SEE! Thank you for working with me on a sensible solution and I’m gonna fight my employer now to change vision insurance Thomas carries.

Appointment was on 4/4/24. A frame I purchased from here a couple years ago broke (SALT) and needed a replacement. Verified via phone call to this office if they took a specific insurance (Superior Vision by MetLife) and if they had the frame was in stock. They confirmed both to be correct so I made an appointment for 2 days later. I planned my entire day around this visit. When I got into the office, they told me they do not take the insurance. They had the frame, but because the brand hand-makes their frames, it wasn’t a simple replacement. Everyone was pleasant, but a major inconvenience all around.

Great experience with Dr. Thomas and all of Thomas Eye Center! Felt incredibly confident in everyone that I interacted with and it was so fun to pick out new frames and lenses that worked for me. Excited to continue a relationship with my new eye doctor, highly recommend anyone go there for the best of the best! It is also a beautiful and very welcoming office. Go get your eyes checked!

Been going to Thomas eye center for 2 years now after marrying into a family that has been going for 20+ years. Love the staff and how friendly they are. Love the selection and how knowledgeable everyone is. Sarah in the gallery was amazing. She was brutally honest (which I loved) and helped me pick the perfect pair of glasses!!
